The Dalai Lama said that humans have a “responsibility to help,” and that people are compelled to help those in need, but there are “too many” refugees in Europe. He said that we as humans want to help because “we feel the misery” of the refugees.
The Dalai Lama stated that refugees should “only be accommodated temporarily.” The ultimate goal he says is to return them so that they can rebuild their country. In an interview with German newspaper, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the Dalai Lama said, “Europe, for example Germany, cannot become an Arab country. Germany is Germany.” “There are so many.”
Over the past year, Germany brought in over one million refugees from countries plagued with war such as Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan. As a result of the influx of refugees, anti-foreign sentiment has grown in Germany.
