[UPDATE] – All clear is being reported at Joint Base Andrews after the base put out an official alert this morning that the base was on lockdown due to reports of an active shooter. The situation was thought to be so serious that Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson commented on the situation while giving testimony in Congress this morning.

However, all is clear and it was a mixup – a big one that had all national media reporting on the situation. Active shooter drills were taking place on the base, and apparently not everyone was informed of the drill, when someone then called in a real active shooter. Upon this report the drills were cancelled and Joint Base Andrews ordered an official lockdown.
All personnel were to shelter in place. The incident took place at Malcolm Grow Medical Facility located at Joint Base Andrews.
Every major media outlet in the country has been reporting on this story all morning.
Reporters noted a lack of urgency among first responders compared to other active shooter situations.
