Al Qaeda urged jihadi’s to carry out more lone wolf attacks, but this time only to white people, so to avoid people labeling their attacks as hate crimes unrelated to radical Islam.
Al Qaeda of the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) has published a guide in an article titled, “Inspire guide: Orlando operation.” The guide tells terrorists to “avoid targeting places and crowds where minorities are generally found” because if they are the ones being targeted, “the federal government will be the one taking full responsibility.” The plan seeks to capitalize on the attacks of Omar Mateen, who killed 49 people inside a gay nightclub, by attacking Americans.
The guide says that killing gay people is “the most binding duty and closer to human nature,” but it suggests lone wolf attackers to target “areas where the Anglo-Saxon community is generally concentrated. This class of the American community is the majority and it is the one that is in the American leadership.”
Al Qaeda has relied on major terrorist plots such as the 9/11 attacks in the past but tells people to move forward with lone wolf attacks which were advocated by Osama Bin Laden.
“We stand by and support all Muslims who attack America in their homeland regardless of their affiliation to any group or loyalty,” the guide states despite being recently overshadowed by ISIS.
