[UPDATE 3:30pm] Investigators have confirmed that the shooter is dead. APD has confirmed that there are no victims suffering from gun shot wounds. No details about the shooter have been confirmed.
Police in Amarillo, Texas have rushed to a local Walmart in response to reports that shots were fired by a gunman that may have taken at least one hostage. Police report that there is no “ongoing” shooting taking place and that the threat has been neutralized. The suspect has reportedly been shot by APD SWAT and is dead. Police are calling this an act of “workplace violence” and not a terror attack.

Contrary to police reports witnesses have told ABC 7 News that one Walmart employee has taken another Walmart employee hostage. Jeff Nunn, the president of bank near Walmart, told Globe-News that approximately 20 emergency vehicles rushed to the store’s parking lot.

Amarillo police have close off at least one road near 1-27 and are asking residents to stay clear of the scene so they can focus on the incident and not traffic. They are currently evacuating shoppers from the west side of the store.
