Kurdish Peshmerga Special Forces are the military forces of the autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan. Peshmerga forces are responsible for defending the land, people and institutions of the Kurdistan Region.
In this video, Peshmerga forces can be seen and heard while fighting against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria during an ambush in Bashir, the Turkmen village in Iraq south of Kirkuk. The village was captured by ISIL in June 2014, but it was reportedly recaptured by Shiite militias and Peshmerga forces on 1 May 2016.
