Abu Azrael, also called “the angel of death” is a commander of the Kataib al-Imam Ali, an Iraqi Shi’a militia group for the Popular Mobilization Forces (an Iraqi state-sponsored umbrella organization composed of some 40 militias) and is reportedly responsible for the death of 1,500 ISIS members.

In Iraq, he has become a public icon for his efforts in stifling ISIS attacks. His catchphrase is “illa tahin” which means “grind you to dust.”
Multiple sources say that Azrael is a 40 year-old former university lecturer and Taekwando champion.
He has received criticism in the past when a video of him was released striking the body of a burnt and dead ISIS fighter with a sword.
What do you think of the “Angel of Death?” Do you think he has that many kills under his belt with his militia?
