The video below features a team of U.S. Marines using 60mm mortar to take out a Taliban sniper. The Marines were made aware of the Taliban sniper after one of their fellow soldiers was struck in the head by one of the sniper’s shots. The marine that was hit survived the head injury.
Once the sniper’s position was confirmed the Marines fought back by firing a series of 60mm mortar shells in quick succession. After the bombs were dropped the sniper didn’t fire another shot. A Battle Damage Assessment patrol later confirmed the kill as a direct hit on the Taliban sniper.
