See a Turkish AH-1W SUPER COBRA attack helicopter get shot down by Kurdish forces. Two members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, also know as the PKK, bring down the helicopter with nothing more than a portable, shoulder-held, surface-to-air missile.

On May 13th, 2016 the Turkish military issued an official press release that claimed that the helicopter crashed due to a “technical problem”. Less than one day later the PKK claimed responsibility for downing the helicopter and posted a video (seen below) to pro-PKK social media sites as proof.
Both the Turkish government and the PKK have declared themselves as anti-ISIS groups. Unfortunately, having a common enemy isn’t enough for the two groups to declare themselves allies. The Turkish government views the PKK as another terrorist group and has conducted bombing raids on PKK facilities.
The latest attack on the Turkish helicopter will only exacerbate fighting between the two forces and bring more turmoil to the war-stricken area.
