According to a CBS News report that originally aired in 2011 and people who have continued to monitor the spending since then, Obama and the State Department have sent overseas a total of $770 million dollars used to renovate mosques.
This has been going on for years. Frankly, why is the U.S. government funding restoration of anything overseas? Why are there still homeless vets?
This has caused a lot of uproar amongst taxpayers since this is where a portion of their taxpayer money is going. It has also brought up multiple questions about how this money is truly being spent and if it is going to be used to fund terrorist groups.
Egyptian human rights activist Nonie Darwish told CBS news anchor Justin Farmer that spending money on mosques overseas is only seen as a sign of weakness as trying to buy the respect of the Middle East by fixing up their mosques is not feasible. The Middle East is taking advantage of Obama and the State Departments weakness to get what they want.
“This part of the world has a lot of respect for power and America is not showing its power, it’s showing its appeasement. They are laughing all the way to the bank,” said Darwish. Darwish, who has now written multiple books on radical Islam, has said that the mosques that the U.S. government is funding is run by Muslim extremists that are looking to kill former Muslims, such as Darwish.
In an email, the State Department told Farmer they are “fighting Islamic extremism by building relationships with Islamic leaders.”
The State Department have been renovating mosques and sending over technological equipment such as computers with access to the internet to places in Tajikstan and Mali with hard earned American tax dollars.
