Staff Sergeant John York decided to show what it means to be a great father by spending his 10 days of pre-deployment leave celebrating his son’s favorite holidays before he deploys for service.

Priscilla York told TODAY,”They have an incredible bond.” Often, when Sgt. York leaves the house, her son, Bryson looks out the window at his father and begins to cry. “If this happens when his dad leaves for just a few hours, I can only imagine how hard it’s going to be when he leaves for deployment,” she said.
Sgt. York was able to celebrate multiple holidays with his son, even his 4th birthday. Included in their holiday festivities were Mother’s day, since at the time it was Mother’s day weekend, Halloween and even Christmas.

York made the effort for “Halloween” to give out candy to all the neighbors so that they could in turn give it to Bryson when he visited. He also got Santa to come to his home and put presents underneath the Christmas tree. On Bryson’s “4th birthday,” Bryson received a brand new bike and a cake.
Priscilla York, who happens to be in charge of a company called Holiday Traditions, decided to return the holiday favor by giving John a video of all the holidays they celebrated during his ten day pre-deployment leave.
One of Bryson’s favorite things is to spend time with his hero, his father, Staff Sergeant York.
