Former speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) stated that he wouldn’t be surprised if Hillary Clinton ends up withdrawing from the 2016 presidential race. On Thursday, during the SALT conference in Las Vegas, Boehner speculated that Clinton’s email scandal may eventually force her to withdraw from the race. He also took the time to take potshots at Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

Boehner believes that the FBI’s investigation into Clinton’s private email scandal could end in Clinton facing criminal charges. He believes this could be a “kill shot” that the potential Democratic nominee could not recover from. If this happens Democrats may be forced to turn to Vice President Joe Biden to be their 2016 nominee.

Boehner also took the time to spit venom at Ted Cruz. He made no attempt to mince his words when speaking of Cruz. The two often butted heads on high-profile legislative fights. He called cruz:
“Lucifer in the flesh”
And went on to call him a:
“miserable son of a bitch”
Boehner proved that, despite resigning from Congress last fall, his tongue and wit has remained sharp. He playfully admitted “I got criticized by some satanic organization for giving Lucifer a bad name,”

Boehner showed support for Trump stating that anyone who thinks he cannot secure the White House in 2016 should “just watch”. He guaranteed that, regardless of the result, this election will be unlike anything we’ve ever seen in American politics.
