Master Sergeant Sims was selected by the Atlanta Braves to return home from deployment to surprise his family on Memorial Day in 2012.
The family believes that Sgt. Sims won’t be able to make the game and can only appear on video. To their surprise, he was able to come home and make their day at Turner Field a little more enjoyable.
Sims had been serving in Kabul, Afghanistan at the time when he was chosen by the Braves to be a part of the surprise homecoming.
Sims said of the day, “it’s especially wonderful for us because we enjoy this privilege and this freedom because that price has been paid by other patriots who have gone before us.”
