Sheppard began attacking John Moles, 75, with a crowbar and stabbing him multiple times in the abdomen with a knife. Barb saw her husband bleeding on the floor of the kitchen and John said to her “I’ve been stabbed.”
Barb Moles, a grandmother of eight and great grandmother of three, grabbed her .38 caliber pistol, a Christmas present from her husband a few years ago, and fired the weapon 4 times, 3 of which hit Sheppard, KOMO TV reported.
“I was just intent upon stopping him,” she told KOMO. “I didn’t have any other thought in my head. I just knew I had to stop him.” She told the local station that she is “not just the typical granny.”
The station reported that when Moles confronted Sheppard he let out one word: “Gun.”
John was later taken to Harborview Medical Center and is now in stable condition.
One of the grandchildren of the couple, Morgan Dobson set up a GoFundMe to pay for the medical bills.
