101st Airborne Soldier Dies During Live-Fire Training Exercise

A soldier with the 101st Airborne Division Died during a live-fire exercise at the Joint Readiness Training Center in Fort Polk, Louisiana.

An investigation is currently underway but many details regarding the soldiers death are not being released until family is first notified, according to a press release given by unit spokesman Master Sergeant Kevin Doheny on May 11.

The soldier was transported to Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital after emergency responders reported to the scene. He was later pronounced dead.

The Joint Readiness Training Center is where troops spend weeks at a time taking part in large scale training exercises.

This death comes just days after the death of Navy Seal trainee, Seaman James Derek Lovelace, during a training exercise in a pool in Coronado California.
