Violence erupted in Paris at the Stalingrad Metro last Thursday night. The Stalingrad Metro is home to one of the many migrant “transit camps” in Paris where hundreds of people gather together daily.
The violence is reported to have begun when a man in a drunken stupor threw an object at the group of migrants presiding at the migrant camp which is under a bridge. In anger, the group of migrants showed their discontent by throwing street furniture and metal objects back at the drunken man, reports French publication Le Parisien. Chaos broke loose on the streets soon afterwards when the migrants began attacking one another with metal and wooden bars.
Special police forces, known as the “Anti-Crime Brigade” were summoned to the scene to quell the fighting. Riot police rained down canisters of tear gas to get control of the situation. Police in turn were battered with bottles and debris.
Four migrants were injured in the scuffle and were taken to the local hospital for treatment. The man that reportedly started the fight was arrested by police.
The video was filmed in a neighborhood apartment nearby that caught the scene take place.
