Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) is the U.S. military operation name for the military intervention against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, better known as ISIS, ISIL, or Daesh. It includes operations both in Iraq and Syria.
Until now, the campaign has mostly consisted of bombing by F/A-18C Hornets, F/A-18E/F Super Hornets fighter jets, and incursions by U.S. Special Forces in a limited and specific role. Now, the U.S. is bringing out the heavy hitters. This video shows two Boeing B-52 Stratofortress from Barksdale AFB in Louisiana, capable of carrying up to 70,000 pounds of weapons, landing on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. It looks like it’s time to take the fight against ISIS to another level.
