An attack helicopter is an armed helicopter with the primary role of serving as an attack aircraft, with the capability of engaging targets on the ground, such as enemy infantry and armored fighting vehicles. The Apache helicopter is the prime example of this concept.

The Kamov Ka-50 “Black Shark” is Russia’s attempt to have one better. The Ka-50, and the two-seat version Ka-52, are high-performance combat helicopters with day and night capability, high survivability and firepower, to defeat air targets and heavily armored tanks armed with air defense weapons. It was designed to be small, fast and agile to improve survivability and lethality. Looks like a badass helicopter to me.
Do you think the Ka-50 can take on the Apache UH-64? Sound off and share your opinions and comments in the section below.
