Friday morning at 8:40am, the base went into lockdown for an active-shooter situation at 147 in the Medina Annex, an area just west of Interstate 410. According to the Air Force Times, law enforcement officials from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office inspected the facility they found two bodies, that of a commanding officer of a training squadron and another airman who is believed to have been the shooter.
There is no additional word yet on what may have caused this rift between the two but the murder-suicide was also confirmed by the Sheriff’s Office which said:
“They did find two people who were dead. Right now it does appear to be a murder-suicide situation.”
Stars & Stripes described the annex in which this event took place in as:
This annex was once used to train Air Force officers, but is now set aside for the training of military police, Air Force Special Operations forces who work in special tactics and other personnel. Military police regularly use the annex for training, based on photos released by the Air Force.
