The hit recording artist was 57 years old at the time of his death. Local authorities responded to emergency calls at 9:43 a.m. and later confirmed that someone had died on the grounds of the superstar’s home. The singer was rushed to the hospital late last week when his jet was forced to make an emergency landing. Sources stated that he was suffering from a severe case of the flu but seemed to be on his way to recovery.
At this time the cause of death is unclear. His publicist Yvette Noel-Schure, confirmed with The Associated Press that the singer passes away in his home. No further details about the cause of his death have been confirmed.
The 5-foot-2-inch singer leaves behind a legacy that dwarfs his physical stature. He will forever be remembered for his 1984 hit “Purple Rain”, being induced to the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame, receiving seven Grammy’s, playing the 2007 Super Bowl show, to name a few of his many accomplishments. Details are still coming in regarding the circumstances of his death. Stay tuned for more info.
