A Colorado School District Is Buying 10 Semiautomatic AR-15 Rifles

April 21, 2016

In a positive step, Douglas County School District is going to add an arsenal of ten semiautomatic rifles for security purposes. Director of Safety and Security, Rich Payne, bought ten Bushmaster AR-15 rifles for over $12,000 to be given to armed security.

Previously the officers carried handguns, but noticing that law enforcement were carrying semiautomatic rifles, Payne made the executive decision to upgrade his security weaponry. The precaution is being taken to counter-act a possible school shooting or other incident.

The weapons will not be held in the school, but instead, they will be held in police vehicles nearby. They will not be used unless necessary, and the people that will be wielding the weapons are former law enforcement who train hand-in-hand with local law enforcement.

Now let’s arm teachers so they can defend our kids.
