ISIS has suffered a severe blow to their ranks thanks to American Special Operations. Momentum seems to be growing with the publicized cyber attacks on ISIS along with United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) on the ground in Iraq. The US has declined to identify the detainees but only admitting that the capture will be beneficial. The detainees will be handed over to Kurdish and Iraqi forces after their interrogation is complete.
The Pentagon press secretary, Peter Cook wouldn’t verify the capture of key ISIS members but said that operations were taking place in Iraq. Defense secretary Ash Carter has been vocal in recent months about keeping details hidden of the operations in Iraq and Syria. Carter said on Monday that military operations would be accelerated and SOCOM would be utilized “to conduct raids of various kinds, seizing places and people, freeing hostages and prisoners of ISIL, and making it such that ISIL has to fear that anywhere, anytime, it may be struck”.
Even the Iraqi Army is stepping up its game on combatting ISIS. Below is a video of the IA taking out an ISIS VBIED.
