New Iranian Propaganda Claims They Got “Good Intel” Off U.S. Sailors

March 16, 2016

According to Iranian state media, the Islamic Republic is claiming it has in its possession, thousands of pages of information from the devices the U.S. Navy sailors were using when the U.S. naval vessels they were on, were intercepted and captured by the Iranian navy in January this year.

General Ali Razmjou, naval commander of the Revolutionary Guard, said that about 13,000 pages of information was retrieved from “laptops, GPS devices and maps” despite the Pentagon stating that Iran only took two SIM cards from satellite phones.’  Razmjou was adamant that this seizure falls within Iran’s right and any information gleaned from the devices could be used in ‘various fields.’ The devices have since been returned to the United States even though Iran ‘had the right to confiscate them.’ The Revolutionary Guard plans to publish a book on the incident along with international reaction.

Vice President Joe Biden, speaking to CBS This Morning, denied the reports that Iran received an apology, he said,

There’s nothing to apologize for. When you have a problem with the boat you apologize the boat had a problem? No, and there was no looking for any apology. This was just standard nautical practice.

No official apology was given to Iran, however, it didn’t detract from Iranian state-ran television from showing footage of a ‘U.S. sailor apologizing, calling the incident a “mistake.”’ A move that is categorically in line with pushing propaganda in an attempt to smear the United States.

Iran is milking this for all its worth as they continue to display their penchant for being opportunists and purveyors of anti-American propaganda; which begs the question, were our sailors under duress when this apology happened?
