Antonin Scalia, an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court was found dead Saturday on a luxury resort in West Texas, federal officials said.
The 79 year old Scalia died of apparent natural causes, reported MySanAntonio.com.
Scalia was nominated to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1986 by President Ronald Reagan.
This weekend Scalia was a guest at the Cibolo Creek Ranch, a resort in the Big Bend region south of Marfa, Texas.
The New York Post reported that “Scalia arrived at the ranch on Friday and attended a private party with about 40 people, the website of the San Antonio Express News said. When he did not appear for breakfast, a person associated with the ranch went to his room and found a body.”
No one from law enforcement is commenting at the moment.
The U.S. Marshal Service, the Presidio County sheriff and the FBI were involved in the investigation, according to the report.
A federal official also told the San Antonio Express newspaper that there was no evidence of foul play and it appeared that Scalia died of natural causes. That official declined to give his name due to the sensitive nature of the matter.
