Panera Bread has joined a trend of major retail and food chains in releasing statements banning guns in their stores.
While doing so won’t prevent criminals or terrorists from killing innocent people, the good people at Panera seem to think stopping law abiding people from carrying weapons will somehow deter them.
Here is the full statement from CEO Ron Shaich:
“Within our company, we strive to create Panera Warmth. This warmth means bakery-cafes where customers and associates feel comfortable and welcome. To this end, we ask that guns not be brought into this environment unless carried by an authorized law enforcement officer. Panera respects the rights of gun owners, but asks our customers to help preserve the environment we are working to create for our guests and associates.”
Mr. Shaich, legal gun owners do not cause death and lack of “warm” feelings. The thugs and terrorists who don’t give a damn about your rule do.
One of the groups consulted was the Michael Bloomberg- backed Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense In America, which has been pushing for heavy gun control nationwide.
We will continue publishing other stories like this one until the stigma that gun owners are bad people is done away with.
