On Thursday, the 41 day standoff between the FBI and a militia formed by Ammon Bundy to protest overreach by the federal government, came to an end as 60,000 people listened to the negotiations live online.

48 year old Sandy Anderson, of Idaho and her husband, Sean Anderson, 47; Jeff Banta, 46, of Elko, Nevada; and 27 year old David Fry were all taken into custody before 11am.
The final one to leave the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in eastern Oregon was David Fry. The final moments were tense and emotional, with Fry threatening to kill himself at various points of the standoff.
This 5 week standoff undertaken by this group that calls themselves Citizens for Constitutional Freedom, began in solidarity with the Hammond family – ranchers who were sent to prison for supposed arson even though they already served a sentence.
Also arrested Thursday at a Portland airport was Ammon Bundy’s father Cliven Bundy – the Nevada rancher who had an armed standoff with federal authorities this summer after agents tried to confront him over money owed for grazing his cattle over federal land.
