(WATCH) U.S. Naval Ship Warms Up Its Close Range Defenses With Live Fire Exercises

January 08, 2016

Have you ever wonder what would happen if an enemy were to get passed a ship early detection systems? Missiles and other ship defenses need some distance to be of any use. So what would happen if anyone were to get passed the early detection of the radar and get within close range?

In this video, we get to see one of the least known components of the U.S. Navy ships’ defenses. In these live fire exercises, we see an arsenal that includes the monstrously powerful Twin .50 M2HB, the Twin M240, the MK 45, and the Mk38. It would be a mistake to think U.S. Navy ships are an easy prey if you’re lucky enough to get really close.
