The U.S. navy has released startling new footage from the day after Christmas showing Iranian ships in the Strait of Hormuz firing rockets just yards from U.S. warships and commercial traffic.
The footage taken from a Seahawk helicopter shows what clearly are commercial vessels passing by a gang of Iranian ships.
Nor far behind were the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier, the USS Bulkeley destroyer and a French frigate. U.S. officials said that Iran gave a 23 min warning before firing the rockets aimed at ISIS.
The Strait of Hormuz is only 21 miles wide at its most narrow point but the shipping lane is a mere 2 miles wide making steering an issue for both military and civilian ships.
