History Channel’s show Ultimate Soldier Challenge is a military combat competition that pits the best special forces in the world up against one another to see who comes out on top. Each episode has three elite squads of military operations compete in head to head challenges as they match skills, wits and guts until only one team is left standing.
In a recent episode, men from the United States Army and Israel’s Defense Force went head to head in a knife fight, and the battle was quite the sight to behold.
See how each man did in the video clip below:
The larger than life soldiers each get a single blade to work with as they attempt to cut and stab their opponent to gain points. A slash is worth one point, and a stab is worth two. The first to reach five points wins the battle.
“I’ve had my fair share of knife fighting, and I never underestimate my opponent,” says contestant Ben of the IDF. “That is my key. I’m going to go there with 110% respect towards the other opponent and will execute it.”
“You have to bring pure adrenaline, just be completely wild and crazy. Just make him afraid. Just be scary. Be badass,” Army soldier Aaron says in response.
The fighting is fast and fierce. Each man has a different approach with how he holds his weapon and how he attempts to attack his opponent. They each go after each other full force, holding nothing back. And while the competition is a TV show, there is a very real danger in this fight. The men sport cuts and slashes on their arms throughout the fight.
IDF soldier Ben quickly earns the first point, but Aaron counters with two direct stabs of his own. With the score set at 4-2 in favor of Ben, the Army soldier needs just one more point to advance.
Fortunately for Ben, he secures another decisive stab and the fight is called in his favor. A slow motion replay breaks down the action and shows how Ben was able to get it done.
In the end, the team from the IDF was eliminated from the challenge, and the Army soldiers proved that they were the Ultimate Soldier.
