As Scandals Run Rampant, Veterans Affairs Awards $142 million In Bonuses

November 11, 2015

The Department of Veterans Affairs have displayed a complete lack of competency and neglect this past year and instead of reform, they get raises!

In all $142 million were given out which included raises amounting to $300 to $900 for each claims processor at the Philadelphia benefits office which was named the worst in the country.

Raises of $1,000 – $4,000 were given to the managers in Tomah, WI that oversaw the deadly over-prescription of opiates to vets.

The same amount were given to managers in Denver that oversaw a project that came in years late and $1 billion over budget.

This is sadly the tip of the iceberg and illustrates just how bad things have gotten at the VA. Our vets deserve so much better!

From USA Today:

WASHINGTON – The Department of Veterans Affairs doled out more than $142 million in bonuses to executives and employees for performance in 2014 even as scandals over veterans’ health care and other issues racked the agency.

Among the recipients were claims processors in a Philadelphia benefits office that investigators dubbed the worst in the country last year. They received $300 to $900 each. Managers in Tomah, Wis., got $1,000 to $4,000, even though they oversaw the over-prescription of opiates to veterans – one of whom died.
