This week we found out about the existence of liquid water on Mars. This could potentially hold the foundation to life being found on Mars and/or the red planet being hospitable to life in the future.
However there is one person who is not exactly excited about the possibility of finding life elsewhere: World renown scientist Stephen Hawking.
He readily admits thats that life could exist, but whether or not they’d be friendly is another matter.
He told the Spanish newspaper El Pais:
“If aliens visit us, the outcome could be much like when Columbus landed in America, which didn’t turn out well for the Native Americans…Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever planets they can reach.”
What do you think? Could aliens be the next threat our military has to face? Sound off in the comments below!
From the Mirror:
Stephen Hawking has tackled the mysteries of the universe his entire life.
Now the world-renowned scientist has some new things to say about a potential alien invasion .
“If aliens visit us, the outcome could be much like when Columbus landed in America, which didn’t turn out well for the Native Americans,” Professor Hawking told El País .
“Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever planets they can reach,” he said.
The physicist, who has suffered from motor neurone disease since his twenties, explained that the existence of aliens is beyond doubt.
