In what is one of the most damning pieces of info from this week’s major leak on President Obama’s drone campaigns, is that innocent civilians die in 9 out of 10 strikes.
The stat comes from a 5 month period of drone strikes in Afghanistan. The journalistRyan Devereaux, from The Intercept, which published the leak, said:
“During one five-month period of the operation, according to the documents, nearly 90 percent of the people killed in airstrikes were not the intended targets.”
The founding editor Glenn Greenwald tweeted Thursday: “These docs illustrate what a video game, drained of all humanity, these drone assassinations have become.”
