“We love you and thank you for keeping us safe.” Thats the subtitle to the thank you letter that the University of Notre Dame penned to the Naval Academy during their birthday week.
[revad1]
Notre Dame v. Navy has a storied rivalry on the gridiron, but back at the dawn of WWII, the Fighting Irish were in financial disarray and at risk of going under.
When West Point rejected Notre Dames offers to train on their facilities as a way to make money, the Naval Academy stepped up to help. It is because of them that Notre Dame still stands.
The letter ends:
“Thank you for serving our country and keeping us all safe.
Thank you for saving the University of Notre Dame when no one else would.
Thank you for showing our fans the utmost respect, no matter what the scoreboard says.
Thank you for being forever classy.
Thank you for your continued support of our institution.
And thank you for making the ND-Navy game the most enjoyable one every, single season.
We love you, Navy. See you next year.”
