Golden retriever Bretagne was just a 2 year old pup when her and her handler Denise went into the rubble at ground zero searching for survivors. This week she is celebrating her 16th birthday and she was brought to NYC where she received a hero’s welcome.
These rescue dogs are relied upon heavily after tragic events and natural disasters; they are vital to finding survivors among rubble.
They are also emotional rocks for their handlers who are forced to see the most gruesome and depressing sites imaginable.
So it’s no surprise so many were more than thrilled to entertain this beautiful dog.
