Staff Sgt. Julian McDonald is a canine handler in the U.S. Army, but he owes the world to a special pup named Layka.
While serving in Afghanistan, he sent Layka into a building when a grenade went off. the dog survived but she required 7 hours of surgery and amputation.
McDonald knows that could have easily been him and his brothers. Against the military’s wishes, he requested that Layka come home with him and they agreed. The Army feared Layka was too vicious to be around young children.
…They were VERY wrong as the video below shows. God bless our service dogs!
