The Final WWII Soldier Didn’t Surrender Until….1974?!

In the years after the Japanese surrender in 1945, news of the loss traveled slowly to Japanese outposts across the globe.

By slow, we mean VERY slow. So much so that the final soldier didn’t surrender until news reached his outpost 29 years after the war!

His name was Hiroo Onoda (1922-2014) and the story of how all of this went down is fascinating!
