Former director of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency, Army Lt. Gen. Michael J. Flynn has said that President Barack Obama has “willfully” allowed ISIS to form in an effort to unite Sunni Muslims against the regime of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad.
The claims seem to be backed up by a newly declassified document from 2012 Defense Intelligence Document that shows the administration was well aware of what it was doing.
This is not the first time Lt. Gen. Flynn has waded into the waters of politics. In an interview with Foreign Policy Flynn had this to say:
“I’m not going to be a general that just fades away, I feel like I have a responsibility not only to myself, but I feel like I have a responsibility to my family, and that to me is probably the most important thing.”
