U.S. border and customs agents intercept vessels fairly frequently. Some are smugglers, some are refugees, some are adrift boats. But this week something strange happened.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine agents along with U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard personnel intercepted a semi-submersible submarine off the coast of El Salvador that had been spotted by U.S. aircraft.

Inside was 8 TONS of cocaine worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
This was a major bust to find the vessel which is connected to one of Latin America’s most powerful cartels. With increased naval presence in the area cartels are turning to submarines to avoid detection. This time they were busted!
