Debate regarding President Joe Biden’s cognitive abilities has increased following the lack of a cognitive exam during his physical in February. In a resurfaced video, Dr. Phil McGraw, a popular television personality and author, indicated that he supports calls for cognitive testing.

During an “Overtime” segment with Bill Maher, McGraw was asked whether he felt calls for cognitive screening were appropriate for Biden.

McGraw stated, “People that have nothing to hide, hide nothing. Why not?”

McGraw doubled down on his statements during an interview with TMZ, stating, “If you’d had no problem with neurological deficits, wouldn’t you want to crow about that? Wouldn’t you want to have a transparent neurocognitive examination and show the world that was the case? That kills the issue in the election.”

Following Biden’s physical exam, Trump posted on Truth Social that he had taken and “aced” two cognitive exams and demanded that Biden also submit to the testing.

“Crooked Joe Biden must take a Cognitive Test. Maybe that way we would be able to find out why he makes such terrible decisions. I took two of them, and ACED them both (no mistakes!),” Trump wrote. “All Presidents, or people wanting to become President, should mandatorily take this test!”

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre responded to questions regarding the lack of cognitive screening in Biden’s physical during a White House press conference in February, stating that Biden did not have the test because “he didn’t need one,” according to Fox News.

“You were asking me about a cognitive test. As it relates to that, look, the president doesn’t need a cognitive test. That is not my assessment. That is not my assessment. That is the assessment of the president’s doctor. That is also the assessment of the neurologist,” Jean-Pierre continued. “The President has a team of doctors that is with him 24/7, and he is able to do the work every day that is rigorous—that is more rigorous than it would be for any 15-minute clinical appointment.”
