A 60-year-old Texas woman, alone in her Texas home, opened fire on two would-be armed robbers, killing one of them.
The woman, not yet identified, told deputies two armed men entered her garage around 11:30 a.m., WTSP reported.
According to deputies, both men were armed with pistols.
“Both were armed with pistols. She confronted both suspects, retrieved a handgun and fired several times at both subjects,” said Harris County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Thomas Gilliland.
Both men ran out of the garage, but one of them collapsed and died in her front yard.
The other suspect escaped by jumping over a fence, but it was unclear if he was wounded.
Neighbor Cathy Hanks said she was not surprised that the unidentified woman fired at the home intruders.
“It’s the state of Texas, if you’re going to go into someone’s home, you’re going to get shot,” she said.
