[UPDATED] – 2:00pm EST: On Wednesday, gunshots were reportedly fired at the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C.
- Police say an “erratic driver” trying to make a u-turn struck a Capitol Police cruiser then tried running over officers that were on foot.
- Officers pursued the driver and fired shots.
- One female suspect is reportedly in custody.
- D.C. Police spokeswoman Eva Melecki says the incident appears to be criminal and not related to terrorism.
- An investigation is underway.
- A news conference will be held later today at Bartholdi Park.
