See U.S. Air Force Medics Teams Participating In Extreme Medical Scenarios

February 17, 2017

Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics are professionals who respond to emergency calls, perform medical services and transport patients to medical facilities. In an emergency, the quick reaction and competent care of EMTs and paramedics at the scene can mean the difference between life and death to the injured. This is the case in the civilian world, as well as the military realm. With that in mind, the U.S. Air Force created an opportunity for U.S. Air Force highly-trained medic teams from across the Air Force, at both stateside and overseas installations, to compete for the title of “best of the best.”

This is an opportunity for these EMT teams to demonstrate their skills, while at the same time up-keeping their proficiency should they have to utilize their skills for a real-world situation at their home station. Each team consisted of four Airmen who were scored collectively on their timeliness, technique and accurate decision making during multiple high-stress emergency scenarios both in-garrison and in a simulated deployed environment. Twenty four teams from across the Air Force participated in various medical scenarios at Cannon Air Force Base and Melrose Air Force Range during the 9th Annual Air Force EMT Rodeo. May only the best of the best come on top.
