Terrorist In France Shouted “Allahu Akbar” After Killing 80 People, Before Being Killed By Police
The local Nice, France newspaper, Nice Matin reported that the terrorist who killed more than 80 people on Bastille Day in Nice, France, shouted “Allahu Akbar” just before getting shot and killed by police.
The 31 year-old terrorist, Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, who is Tunisian, and holds a French passport reportedly yelled “Allahu Akbar” just before getting shot and killed by police after hopping onto the pavement and driving over a crowd of people for over a mile.
“Allahu Akbar” is Arabic for “God is Greater” of “God is greatest.”
One eyewitness of the attack filmed officers firing at the truck through the windshield and the doors at Bouhlel. Bouhlel appears to be screaming as he is being hit by bullets.
Witness Nadar El Shafei, a former banker from Cairo told the BBC, “He died inside the vehicle – I saw his head [hanging] out of the window I could see it clearly, they kept shooting him from all sides just to be sure. They used a light to make sure no one else was inside the car then they asked us to run away in case there were others inside the car or a bomb.”
“Police killed him straight away – they didn’t wait to negotiate – they just opened fire on him,” Nadal El Shafei added.
The identity of Bouhlel was discovered when an ID card was found next to his body inside the truck.
This video shows the truck driving down the road with officers running after it to catch it to stop the driver. It also shows other people running away to get away from the truck as it careens down the road.
