A spokesman for the Navy’s 5th Fleet, Commander Kevin Stephens said that a drone similar to the one described by Iranian state media flew over the Truman and near the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle on January 12th.
Stephens went on to say that the drone wasn’t shot down because it was unarmed and posed no threat to the ship in international waters however that the move was “abnormal and unprofessional.”
For Iran’s part, Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, the commander of Iran’s navy said the drone flight was a “sign of bravery.”
