USCENTCOM and Uzbekistan discuss military cooperation

A six member delegation from the Uzbekistan Ministry of Defense visited USCENTCOM headquarters to coordinate military to military activities for fiscal year 2019, April 11-12.

This event is the second of a bilateral process consisting of an action officer working group and consultative staff talks intended to build a strategic partnership in the following areas:

  • Career development of non-commissioned military personnel, including cooperation on human resource management and logistics.

  • Continued development of the Professional Military Education (PME) system.

  • Development of military intelligence capabilities and exchanges.

  • Enhancement of special force capabilities.

  • Combined peacekeeping operations.

  • Development of air defense capabilities.

  • Development of a military medical training center.

The talks also serve to review the progress of the current year’s joint military-to-military activities and to finalize the plan for next year’s activities.

LTC Dilshod Khasanov, head of the Department of International Cooperation, represented Uzbekistan along with representatives from the Department of Military Education, Department of Military Cooperation, and the General Staff Planning Department.

This year’s talks represent another successful step forward in deepening U.S. – Uzbekistan military cooperation to advance mutual security and defense interests.
