Congratulations to Master Chief Petty Officer Mathew J. Coppola who is selected as the 13th Silver (Enlisted) Ancient Mariner since the inception of the program in 1978. Coppola will assume the title of Silver Ancient Mariner from Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard, Steven W. Cantrell, during a ceremony onboard Coast Guard Cutter Bear in New London, Conn., April 30, 2018.
Eclipse 2018 is scheduled to be held at the Coast Guard Academy during the week of April 4-7, 2018. Eclipse is part of a cadet-run tradition established by the Coast Guard Academy Genesis Council in the 1970’s with a strong focus on diversity, inclusion, and mentorship. During this week, the Coast Guard Academy invites the greater Coast Guard community, local community members, and experts in diversity from across the nation to participate in mentoring and inspiring cadets to excel and prepare for lasting careers as inclusive Coast Guard officers.
March is Women’s History Month. The Coast Guard’s theme for the March celebration of Women’s History Month is: “Women as Game Changers: Honoring Women Who Protect the Homeland.”
The Coast Guard Chief Warrant and Warrant Officers Association (CWOA) Lt. Art and Eleanor Colona Scholarship Grant was established by the Colona Family to financially assist dependent children of enlisted members of the Coast Guard (active, retired, or reserve). Applications shall be submitted to the CWOA and postmarked no later than June 1, 2018.
This ALCOAST solicits nominations for the 2018 LULAC Excellence in Public Service Award. The award recognizes excellence by individuals or teams in the advancement of diversity, education, economics and health in communities with large underrepresented populations. The LULAC award is open to Coast Guard service members (active duty or reserve) and civilian employees.
This ALCOAST solicits nominations for the DHS EEO/Civil Rights/Diversity and Inclusion Awards. This recognition will honor DHS Components and employees who have made a difference while promoting and achieving the Department’s EEO/Civil Rights, Diversity and Inclusion program goals.
