During the most recent review of the Boat Crew Seamanship Manual, subject matter experts determined that the information would be better packaged for the field in the form of five Boat Crew Handbooks. The five handbooks will also include a formal crosswalk to help field users locate content.

Reserve Officer Extension Boards will not be held in Promotion Year 2018 (PY18). Starting Jan. 29, 2018, PSC-OPM will consider all extension requests for Reserve Officers with Extended Active Duty (EAD) agreements expiring between May 1, 2018 and Oct. 31, 2018.

This message solicits submissions for the 2017 Chief Journalist (JOC) Alex Haley and CDR Jim Simpson Public Affairs Awards. These awards are designed to encourage and formally recognize Coast Guard-wide participation in conducting our important public affairs mission. Participants will have until March 1, 2018, to make submissions.
This award is designed to recognize the active duty or Reserve unit ombudsman who has demonstrated the greatest contribution to the Coast Guard and their families. All units within the geographic boundaries of a district who desire to nominate their ombudsman shall submit nominations to their Regional Ombudsman Coordinator (ROC) by Jan. 31, 2018.
