NEW FAST RESPONSE CUTTERS NAMED FOR COAST GUARD HEROES

As with their FRC sister cutters, the next flight of 19 FRCs will bear the names of enlisted leaders, trailblazers and heroes of the Coast Guard and its predecessor services of the U.S. Revenue Cutter Service, U.S. Lifesaving Service and U.S. Lighthouse Service.

SPAR – WOMEN’S RESERVE 75TH ANNIVERSARY

Nov. 23, 2017, marked the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Coast Guard Women’s Reserve, better known as the SPARS, authorizing women to join the Reserves and paving the way for women in the service today.

SOLICITATION FOR THE 2017 FORREST O. REDNOUR MEMORIAL AWARD PROGRAM

This ALCOAST solicits nominations for the 2017 Rednour Award Program. The deadline for package submission is March 1, 2018.

COAST GUARD SOCIAL MEDIA PERSONAL USE GUIDANCE

This guidance is provided to ensure Coast Guard members are aware of their responsibilities and obligations when making social media posts. It applies to active duty and reserve Coast Guard members making unofficial or personal internet posts.

IMPLEMENTATION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT INSTRUCTOR COURSE

This ALCOAST announces the Law Enforcement Instructor (LEI) Course (100164) that will be offered at the Maritime Law Enforcement Academy (MLEA) beginning FY18. The LEI Resident Course is an 8-day competency based training program that prepares Coast Guard unit LEIs with the skills and knowledge required to deliver LE training.

SWARINGEN AWARD RECIPIENT

Congratulations to Lt. Cmdr. Hannah Kawamoto, the 2017 recipient of the Swaringen Award for outstanding mentorship in Human Performance Technology (HPT)! This prestigious award recognizes exemplary individual achievement in the selfless development of others in the application of HPT.
