ALCOAST 132/18 – APR 2018 U.S. NAVAL INSTITUTE EXECUTIVE FELLOW SOLICITATION MESSAGE

This message solicits applicants for a one year Federal Executive Fellowship at the U.S. Naval Institute. The officer selected for the Naval Institute Fellowship will conduct and publish research on priority Coast Guard and homeland defense issues, and serve as a conduit between the Coast Guard and the Institute. The USNI fellow will advise the Institute on the Coast Guard’s position on issues and provide feedback on perspectives the Institute receives from the open forum.

ALCOAST 131/18 – APR 2018 COMMAND AND STAFF POST-GRADUATE PROGRAM SOLICITATION MESSAGE

This message solicits applicants for postgraduate opportunities at the Department of Defense’s Command and Staff Colleges. Each year the Coast Guard sends officers to the Air Command and Staff College, the Army Command and General Staff College, the College of Naval Command and Staff, and the Marine Corps Command and Staff College. These 10-month resident programs offer outstanding opportunities for professional development. All graduates earn a Master’s Degree and Joint Professional Military Education Level 1 (JPME-1) credit.

ALCOAST 129/18 – APR 2018 AY19 ENLISTED ADVANCED EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES SPONSORED BY DEPUTY COMMANDANT FOR MISSION SUPPORT (DCMS)

This message solicits enlisted candidates for Coast Guard advanced education opportunities sponsored by DCMS. The purpose of these programs is to develop the advanced knowledge and skills necessary to perform required duties and responsibilities as well as providing developmental incentives for personnel with high ability, dedication, and the capacity for professional growth to remain in the Coast Guard. Graduates of these advanced education programs will be placed in positions of significant responsibility directly impacting Coast Guard missions, systems, and resources. Members desiring a challenging career with a range of opportunities in positions of increasing responsibility are encouraged to apply.

ALCOAST 128/18 – APR 2018 POSTGRADUATE EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES – ACADEMY INSTRUCTOR PROGRAM

The Coast Guard Academy is soliciting applications for the Academy Instructor Program. This program offers outstanding professional development and career broadening opportunities for officers interested in serving in the challenging and rewarding role of Academy instructor. Selectees will have the opportunity to become members of the faculty charged with educating and developing a sizeable portion of our service’s future officer corps.

ALCOAST 127/18 – APR 2018 2018 BLACKS IN GOVERNMENT (BIG) MERITORIOUS SERVICE AWARD

This ALCOAST solicits for the 2018 BIG Meritorious Service Award. The award honors service members and civilian employees who supported the Coast Guard mission, overseas contingency operations or whose attributes best epitomized the CG core values of honor, respect, and devotion to duty, through the performance period April 2017 to April 2018. The BIG Meritorious Service Award is open to Coast Guard service members (active duty or reserve) and civilian employees.

ALCOAST 124/18 – APR 2018 SITREP 9 – HUMAN CAPITAL STRATEGY – BLENDED RETIREMENT SYSTEM (BRS) – THRIFT SAVINGS PLAN (TSP) CONTRIBUTIONS

This ALCOAST announces a change to REF (A) regarding the timing of TSP Government automatic and matching contributions. According to REF (A), Government automatic and matching contributions were to begin the pay period after the election to enroll in the BRS regardless of the day of the month. Due to a recent clarification of the statutory language and implementation policy, the day of the month on which a member enrolls in the BRS will dictate the timing of the receipt of automatic and matching contributions.
