A security fence costing American taxpayers nearly half a million dollars is being built around the border of President Joe Biden’s beach house in Delaware, a federal database on government spending shows. Biden has been a staunch opponent of fencing along the US-Mexico border.

According to USASPENDING.gov, the Department of Homeland Security awarded on September 21 a $456,548 contract to Rehoboth’s Turnstone Builders for “purchase and installation of security fencing at 32 Farview, Rehoboth Delaware.” Biden bought the home in June 2017 for $2.7 million, tax records show.

Biden’s beach house barrier is currently “in progress” and is slated to be finished by December 31.

The spending data comes after Biden ended construction of the barrier along the US-Mexico border. In July, the DHS – the same department behind Biden’s beach house barrier – announced that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is canceling two Texas border barrier projects that include 31 miles of border wall construction, asserting they “are not necessary to address any life, safety, environmental or other remediation requirements.”

“The [Biden] Administration also continues to call on Congress to cancel remaining border wall funding and instead fund smarter border security measures, like border technology and modernization of land ports of entry, that are proven to be more effective at improving safety and security at the border,” the DHS said.

Over 1.5 million illegal immigrants have been arrested at the southern border since January, according to CBP data. The administration is reportedly preparing for another 400,000 illegal immigrants to enter the United States southern border in October in an unprecedented surge, Department of Homeland Security officials told NBC News.

In an effort to help stop the flow of illegal immigrants, ten GOP governors, including Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, announced a 10-point plan to stop President Biden’s border crisis.

“The Biden Administration’s open border policies have led to complete chaos at the southern border, and pose a threat to the safety of Texans and all Americans,” Gov. Abbott said. “Together, we are sending a strong message to the Biden Administration that we will not tolerate their refusal to secure the border — and we will continue to do whatever it takes to keep our communities safe.”

In one of his first moves as president, Biden signed an Executive Order that terminated former-President Trump’s national emergency declaration of the United States’ southern border and canceled border wall funding, calling the project “not a serious policy solution.”

“It shall be the policy of my Administration that no more American taxpayer dollars be diverted to construct a border wall,” Biden’s order stated.
