Texas state troopers used their vehicles to create a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border in Del Rio over the weekend after thousands of illegal immigrants walked through and camped out under the international bridge.

On Saturday, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted an image of one of the trooper barricades, adding that the National Guard is also assisting with efforts on the border.

“The Texas Department of Public Safety is in full force along the border around the Del Rio area. They have built a barricade with their squad cars and State Troopers,” Abbott wrote. “The National Guard is working with them to secure the border.”

President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security said it is ramping up communication efforts to deter illegal immigrants from crossing the border.

“Individuals and families are subject to border restrictions, including expulsion. Irregular migration poses a significant threat to the health and welfare of border communities and to the lives of migrants themselves, and should not be attempted,” the department said in an unsigned statement Saturday, according to the Washington Times.

Despite the administration’s tough language, they are still releasing some families into the United States’ interior with notices to appear at asylum hearings — which often go unanswered.

Texas State Rep. Jacey Jetton tweeted video of the chaos under the international bridge, that one Fox News reporter described as conditions similar to a “third world refugee camp.” Jetton noted that deportation flights would begin on Sunday.

Also on Sunday, former President Donald Trump blasted the situation as “not just a border crisis” but a “crisis crisis.”

“The largest number of illegal aliens in the history of our Country are pouring in by the millions. They are totally unchecked and unvetted, can do whatever they want, and go wherever they want. Our Country is rapidly becoming a cesspool of humanity,” Trump wrote in an email to American Military News. “Murderers, drug dealers, and criminals of all shapes and sizes are a big part of this massive migration. Tens of thousands of people are coming from Haiti, and many now from countries in Africa, even more so now than South America. Nothing is done and the corrupt Mainstream Media is giving almost no attention to what will be perhaps the greatest Crisis in the history of our Country.”

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection statistics, over 1.5 million illegal immigrants have been arrested at the United States-Mexico border so far this year. Over 200,000 illegal immigrants were arrested in August alone, a staggering jump from the same period last year when just over 50,000 were apprehended.
